about me: Andrew Solmssen is a Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian and computer consultant. His roots in professional nerd-dom go back 25 years to the TRS-80 and Apple II, where he had his first paying gig teaching other kids to program in BASIC. Since then, he’s been a system administrator and network manager, working to grow businesses with a deep understanding of computer technology and how to make it work for fun and profit. He works today in a successful practice helping PC, Mac and Unix users achieve their IT goals, and his clients include entertainment industry luminaries and a variety of business and organizations. His stand-up began in the coffeehouses of L.A., but he can now be seen all over the country making fellow nerds and even regular people laugh with his sharp, tech-focused humor and a willingness to poke fun at the foibles of nerds and nerd life. Recently, he has performed at the Las Vegas Improv for audiences in town for the Consumer Electronics Show, and was just in Silicon Valley for a week of funny in the birthplace of the Internet revolution. Along the way, he’s performed in Seattle, Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, and other places nerds congregate for bandwidth and beer. He hosted the local favorite Midnight Comedy Hour at Lulu’s Beehive in Los Angeles for almost four years and also hosted a long-running weekly showcase for new talent at the Hollywood Improv. He has appeared on Comedy Central’s Crossballs, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and CNN’s Showbiz Today, among others. Visit him at http://www.bitboy.com. |

bot's thoughts
he's a nerd. he's large. and he's unafraid to talk about topics that may make you uncomfortable. everybody takes potshots at the fat guy. but sometimes that guy is smarter, funnier, and more successful than you. yeah, you. |
